Many times, way too often, doctors and psychologists turn to prescription drugs as the solution to depression. We recognize that at times because of chemical imbalances a person will need to take medication to help them overcome depression symptoms.
However, we believe there should be a whole-person approach to dealing with depression. The whole-person approach is based upon recognition of the unique components of an individual’s life and how these components interweave to form the whole person.
In the whole-person approach to depression, we look at various factors that may be causing the depression. There can be emotional, environmental, relational, and spiritual influences. Unless these potential influences are looked at, a person may never effectively recover from depression.
So I encourage you to consider other options besides just medication. At the same time, medication may be what you may need.
